Investors

SoftBank (former major shareholder)Kleiner Perkins (early)Sherpalo Ventures (early)

InMobi, founded in 2007 in Bengaluru, became India's first unicorn when SoftBank invested in 2011. It runs a mobile advertising and marketing technology business and created Glance, the lock-screen content platform. In 2026 it was preparing an initial public offering in India, with reports in July saying it had appointed banks to raise about US$1 billion at a valuation of US$5 billion to US$6 billion. This profile explains InMobi's business, the IPO plans and the risks.

InMobi's valuation and IPO plans

InMobi has no recent priced funding round, so we do not show a current valuation. In February 2026 reports said it had engaged several investment banks for an IPO of more than US$500 million at a US$4 billion to US$5 billion valuation, according to Storyboard18. In July 2026 it reportedly picked JPMorgan, Jefferies, Kotak Mahindra Capital and Axis Capital to lead an offering of about US$1 billion at US$5 billion to US$6 billion, according to Exchange4media and Crypto Briefing. The plans were described as tentative, and no draft prospectus had been made public as of October 2026.

The company has been moving its legal home from Singapore to India to list on Indian exchanges, a "reverse flip" that many Indian startups have made to tap strong domestic IPO demand.

Ownership: buying back from SoftBank

SoftBank was InMobi's largest outside shareholder for over a decade. In 2025 the co-founders bought back a major stake from SoftBank, giving the founders majority control, according to Inc42. That reshaped the cap table ahead of a listing and reduced the influence of a single large investor.

What InMobi does

InMobi helps advertisers reach people on mobile devices and helps app developers and publishers earn money from ads. Its products include an advertising exchange connecting buyers and sellers of mobile ad space, tools for brands and agencies, and data and analytics for marketing. It has shifted toward what it calls a marketing cloud and AI-driven advertising, with ads that respond to context and generative AI tools for creating campaigns.

Revenue

InMobi's financial results have been mixed. Inc42 reported that it swung to a net loss of about US$77 million in FY24 from a profit the previous year, with operating revenue down 18% to about US$220 million. Co-founder Naveen Tewari has put the FY26 annual run rate at about US$300 million. Audited FY25 and FY26 figures were not available in the sources we reviewed; the IPO prospectus would provide them.

Glance

InMobi incubated Glance, which puts news, games and shopping content on Android phones' lock screens, through partnerships with handset makers. Glance raised money separately, including from Google and Jio Platforms, and is now launching AI-driven shopping features. Its relationship with InMobi and whether it is part of the listing are among the details investors will look for.

Founders

Naveen Tewari, the chief executive, founded InMobi in 2007 with Abhay Singhal, Mohit Saxena and Amit Gupta. Tewari, who studied at IIT Kanpur and Harvard Business School, has been a prominent figure in India's startup ecosystem since InMobi became the country's first unicorn.

Competitive landscape

InMobi competes with Google and Meta, which dominate digital advertising; with AppLovin and Unity in mobile app advertising; and with other ad exchanges and marketing platforms. Its niche is mobile and emerging markets, as well as privacy-focused, contextual advertising. See our largest Indian startups guide.

Risks

  • Big Tech dominance: Google and Meta capture most ad spending.
  • Privacy changes: limits on tracking, such as Apple's App Tracking Transparency, reduce ad targeting.
  • Uneven financials: recent years included a loss and a revenue decline.
  • IPO execution: valuation targets depend on market conditions.

  • How fast is AI-driven advertising growing within the business?

InMobi at a glance

InMobi is a Bengaluru mobile advertising and marketing technology company founded in 2007 by Naveen Tewari, Abhay Singhal, Mohit Saxena and Amit Gupta. It became India's first unicorn in 2011 with SoftBank's investment, and its founders bought back a major stake from SoftBank in 2025. In 2026 it was preparing an IPO in India, reportedly seeking about US$1 billion at a US$5 billion to US$6 billion valuation.

Why InMobi is listing in India

India's stock market has become one of the most active in the world for technology IPOs. Companies such as Zomato (now Eternal), Swiggy, Groww, Meesho and Lenskart have listed at home, often at strong valuations, supported by heavy participation from domestic mutual funds and retail investors. Many startups that originally incorporated abroad, in Singapore or the US, have moved their parent companies back to India to qualify. For InMobi, an Indian listing offers a large, enthusiastic investor base that knows the company's brand, and it fits the founders' renewed control after buying out SoftBank.

The changing advertising market

Mobile advertising has been reshaped by privacy rules and AI. Apple's App Tracking Transparency, introduced in 2021, made it harder to track users across apps, hurting ad networks that relied on that data, and Google has also tightened data use on Android and in Chrome. At the same time, AI models make it possible to target ads based on context, what a user is looking at right now, rather than personal histories. InMobi has repositioned around this, offering contextual and AI-driven advertising and tools for marketers. Investors will judge the IPO partly on whether that shift has returned the business to consistent growth.
